Adore

It’s music like this that raises the bar for independent artists. When I think it’s unfair to expect small, indie released artists to sound like they’re ready to go on major market radio, I hear something like this and think, “F that! If they want to be heard, make something listenable.”

This is their album from 2001. Their 2004 release, Escalator, was a bit of a departure. A “concept” album. Frustrating for many of us who really dug Lobbygators.

Adore features John Hermanson on lead vocals and guitar. Great energy and singing on this one. You find it on Beautiful too.

Hermanson has been a mainstay on the local Minnesota music for a long time, and “just on the verge” for just about as long. (He’s just about in every band in the Twin Cities too). This guy has got it. The instincts and the talent. Why he hasn’t broken through to the next level, who knows? Just another example of everything that’s wrong with the music industry?

Either way, I want to see more.
