Novocain

Comic Book Guy says, “Best Album Title Ever.” Or at the very least on this list.

You know those indie artists who brag about making their album in their bedroom on their own 8 track system and you think, “Yeah, I can tell cuz’ it sounds like %$#&!” Well, Messersmith would be the guy who recorded his album in a bedroom that’s one sweet ass bedroom for recording albums in.

“There ain’t enough Novocain to numb my broken heart.” Ignoring the fact that Novocain is usually for teeth and not major organs, it’s a pretty strong lyric. Great tune.

This is the quintessential cool Sunday morning, hot coffee, and the paper album. Or maybe a quiet evening at the cabin with the breeze coming of the lake?

Everyone compares him to Elliot Smith, but I have a feeling he’s listened to some John Denver and Don McLean records. Same gentleness, same earnestness.
